January 23,Kathmandu.A major train accident took place in Jalgaon, Maharashtra, India, at 4:42 pm on Wednesday. There were rumors that a fire had broken out on the Pushpak Express between Maheji and Pardhade near Pachora station. During this, some passengers pulled the chain. Due to which the train stopped and the frightened passengers jumped out. Meanwhile, the Karnataka Express coming on the other track crushed many passengers, Indian media reported.
The Jalgaon SP confirmed that 11 people have died, while Special Inspector General of Police Dattatreya Karale told PTI that 12 bodies have been sent to the Civil Hospital.
Indian media outlet Dainik Bhaskar reported that three Nepali citizens were among the dead. They are 11-year-old Nandaram Bishwakarma, 23-year-old Lachhi Ram Pasi, and 43-year-old Kamala Nabin Bhandari, all from Nepal. Their whereabouts have not been revealed, according to the report.
Forty passengers were also injured. Official sources from the Bhusawal division of the Central Railway said that there was a sharp turn at the scene of the incident. Due to which, the passengers sitting on the other track did not realize that the train had arrived.
This is why the Karnataka Express crushed such a large number of people. Swapnil Nila, CPRO of Central Railway, said, 'The incident site is 400 km away from Mumbai.'
Twelve bodies have been brought to the government hospital in Jalgaon. Seven of them have been identified. The deceased include nine men and three women. Agency
