If your body needs more energy, then white rice or brown rice is a better option. According to the US Department of Agriculture, 100 grams of brown rice and white rice contain 78 grams of carbohydrates, while 100 grams of pasta contains 71.5 grams of carbs.
Fiber
Talking about fiber, 100 grams of multigrain pasta can contain more than 10 grams of fiber. Whereas 100 grams of brown rice contains 4 grams and white rice contains only 0.4 grams of fiber. In such a situation, pasta is a better option for a fiber rich diet.
Calories
There is not much difference in calories between brown rice and pasta. 100 grams of brown rice contains 360 calories, while regular pasta contains 357 calories.
Protein
In terms of protein, pasta is better than rice. If you are focusing on building muscles or participate in sports activities, then you should choose pasta. According to the US Department of Agriculture, 100 grams of multigrain pasta can provide 12.5 grams of protein, while brown rice contains 8 grams and white rice contains 2.5 grams of protein.
Other Healthy Nutrients
A 100 gram bowl of pasta contains calcium (36 mg), iron (3.21 mg) and magnesium (107 mg). However, 100 grams of brown rice contains more magnesium (120 mg) than pasta, while brown rice does not contain calcium.
